Frequently asked questions

How does Cryopen work?

+

Cryopen sprays a fine jet of extremely cold nitrogen gas (-89°C) directly onto the skin lesion. The cold destroys the cells in the wart or skin tag, and the body then sheds the dead tissue naturally over the following weeks.

Does it hurt?

+

Most people feel a brief stinging or burning sensation during the few seconds the treatment takes. Afterwards the area can be tender and swollen for a few hours. No anaesthetic is needed.

How long does it take to heal?

+

A blister may form after 24-48 hours – do not pick at it. The area usually heals within 1-3 weeks. Larger skin lesions can take longer.

Can all skin lesions be treated?

+

Most benign skin lesions can be treated. We always assess the area beforehand to make sure the lesion is suitable for cryotherapy. If there is any doubt, we recommend having it assessed by a doctor first.
